The 2025 KSSSA National School Games got underway today at Shimo La Tewa School, with thrilling rugby 15s action marking day one of the pool stage.
Upperhill School from Nairobi made a bold statement in Pool A, thrashing Central region’s Mang’u High School 28-5 in a dominant performance that has placed them at the top of the group standings. In the other Pool A fixture, defending champions All Saints faced a tough test against Serani Boys. The closely contested encounter ended 3-0 in favour of All Saints, who had to dig deep to edge past a resilient Serani side. With these results, Upperhill lead the group, followed by All Saints in second, Serani in third, and Mang’u at the bottom after round one.
Over in Pool B, Rift Valley’s Bwake Boys held their nerve to see off Marafa 13-09 in a tightly contested match, while Vihiga secured a narrow 11-09 victory over Kisii School in another close affair. Bwake now sit atop Pool B, followed closely by Vihiga, with Kisii and Marafa in third and fourth respectively.
Day two promises more action as the pool battles continue. In Pool A, All Saints will take on Upperhill in a highly anticipated clash, while Serani and Mang’u will both be seeking their first wins. Pool B action will see Kisii face Marafa, and Vihiga clash with Bwake in a top-of-the-table battle.
