Last year the Kenya Rugby Union held a total of 34 Training and Education courses across the Country and the African continent at large with more than ten of them being Elite Courses.
Medical Courses
In March 2018, Uganda hosted two courses: Medical Educator course and the Level 2 Immediate Care In Rugby where three of the Kenya Rugby physiotherapists were in attendance. Ben Mahinda received the First Aid Educator accreditation while Gerald Omondi and Anthony Maina received their Level 2 Immediate Care In Rugby accreditation.
Eleven attendees received their L1 First Aid In Rugby accreditation in September during the course that was held at the Menengai High School in Nakuru
In October, Dr. James Ondiege attended the Advanced L3 Immediate Care in Rugby course held in London and is the first and currently the only Kenyan Doctor to have received this accreditation.
Match Official Courses
In May 2018, Lamech Ongati attended the L2 Coaching of Match Officials course in South Africa while Victor Oduor received the L3 Match Officiating accreditation during the same period in the same venue. Seven months later, during the Cape Town7s Absaloms Juma, George Mbaye, Richard Omwela and Thomas Odundo attended three courses each in their own capacity. Absaloms was in the L1 Citing Course as an educator, Lawyers George Mbaye and Richard Omwela were in the Judicial Officers Course while the Kenya Rugby Director of Rugby, Thomas Odundo attended the Leading Rugby pilot course.
Coaching 15s and Strength & Conditioning Courses
By December 2018, we had a total of five Kenya Cup league Coaches with L2 Coaching 15s accreditation. Mitch Ochola is the sixth and he received his accreditation in 2019.
Strength and Conditioning Courses.
In August and September 2018, a total of 27 people attained their S&C Accreditation. 21 received the L1 S&C certification while six got their L2 S&C accreditation.
