The George Mwangi Kabeberi7s hosts Stanbic Mwamba kicked off their tournament with a 100%-win rate at the end of the first day of the tournament. Mwamba finished top of their pool after beating the Kenya Harlequins, Egerton Wasps and Nondies 17-12, 53-00 and 29-0 respectively securing their cup quarterfinal slot.
Defending Champions Menengai Cream Homeboyz wrapped up their day one as the only team that didn’t concede a single try having registered clean sheets in their Pool matches. The Deejays beat the Catholic Monks 22-0, Mean Machine 31-0 and Masinde Muliro University 22-0. They book a quarterfinal date with KCB who finished second in Pool A in what will be a repeat of the Kakamega7s final.
Top Fry Nakuru was the third team to go unbeaten in the Pool stage as it registered comfortable wins over Blakblad, Northern Suburbs and Strathmore Leos. Nakuru finished top of Pool D and is scheduled to meet Nondescripts in the Cup quarterfinal.
Northern Suburbs Cubs were the surprise of the weekend as they stormed into the Kabeberi7s Cup quarterfinal. They beat Strathmore Leos 26-10 and Blakblad 21-00 in their pool matches to finish second. They meet Stanbic Mwamba in the fourth Cup quarterfinal.
KCB, Menengai Oilers and Masinde Muliro complete the top eight teams at the Kabeberi7s.
