Shujaa kicked off their #Madrid7 s campaign on a high winning three out of their four pool matches. On Saturday 20th February, they beat Portugal 36-5 in their opening match of the tournament before going on to meet and beat hosts Spain 19-5. Their next two matches were scheduled for Sunday 21st February where they registered their third win over USA beating them 38-7 before suffering a 7-21 loss to Argentina.
This performance saw them finish second in their pool securing their slot in the final where they will meet Argentina to determine the winner of this first leg. This match will kick off at 8:02 pm EAT.
The Lionesses’ outing hasn’t been as rewarding as that of Shujaa as they didn’t manage to win any of their pool matches. In spite of their relentless efforts in both defense and attack, the ladies finished sixth overall booking a fifth-place date with Spain that kicks off at 6:34 pm (EAT).
