Shujaa are headed to the HSBC SVNS playoff in Madrid after finishing second overall  on the standings at the close of the HSBC Sevens Challenger Series whose final tournament was played in Munich.

They head to Madrid alongside Challenger winners Uruguay, Chile and Germany.

The bottom four teams from the regular season of the 2024 HSBC SVNS Series and the top four teams from the World Rugby HSBC Sevens Challenger 2024 competitions will compete in pools, followed by winner-takes-all play-off matches.

The winners will secure their place in the 2025 HSBC SVNS series, while the four defeated teams will enter the qualification pathway for HSBC SVNS 2026 status, through the relevant regional championship and then through qualification to the World Rugby HSBC Sevens Challenger 2025.

Playing at the Munich tournament, Shujaa exited at the cup quarterfinal stage, losing 19-17 t0 losing finalists Germany before defeating Uganda 48-0 in the fifth place playoff, doing just enough to consolidate second place on the log.

Nygel Amaitsa and Patrick Odongo scored twice in this match with Kevin Wekesa, Brian Tanga, Samuel Asati and Lameck Ambetsa adding one apiece. Amaitsa weighed in with three conversions.

Odongo, Amaitsa and John Okoth were try scorers in the loss to Germany, Tanga adding a conversion.
