Shujaa Recognised as Brand Ambassadors in Celebration of Kenya’s 60 Years of Diplomacy
The Kenya National Rugby 7s team, fondly known as Shujaa, has been recognised as Brand Ambassadors by the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs. This honor was bestowed upon the team during the celebrations marking Kenya’s 60-year diplomatic journey, a milestone recognizing the country’s international relationships and cultural impact.
Shujaa is widely celebrated as the pride of Kenya and Africa in the rugby sevens category. Known for their resilience and determination, the team recently regained its coveted HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series status in under 500 days, following their relegation last year. This remarkable comeback story has inspired fans worldwide.
In their most recent outing, Shujaa put up a spirited fight at the Dubai 7s, finishing in 10th place in the first leg of the HSBC series. The team now turns its attention to the Cape Town 7s, where they are in Pool B and will face Spain and Australia.
The award was received by Thomas Odundo, CEO of the Kenya Rugby Union, on behalf of the team. Mr. Odundo expressed gratitude for the recognition, stating, “This honor underscores the significant role Shujaa plays as ambassadors of Kenya, showcasing our country’s talent, resilience, and spirit on a global stage.”
Shujaa continues to symbolize the unyielding spirit of Kenya, both in sports and as representatives of the nation’s rich culture and diplomatic strength.
