Top South Africa Referee and World Rugby educator Rasta Rasivhenge is in the Country for High Performance for Match Officials Camp hosted by Kenya Rugby Referees Association in Nandi.
Rasta, a renown and celebrated Sevens referee, will conduct the three-day camp alongside Rugby Africa’s John Bosco Muamba, KRRA Head of Technical and Training Constant Cap and Coach of Match Official (CMO) Damas Ogwe.
The camp will see a total of 16 Kenyans, three Ugandans and one Zimbabwean undergo intensive training on officiating sevens from one of the world’s best educator.
The KRRA Secretary General Alfred Okwemba says the camp is very vital in preparing the referees for the upcoming Stanbic Bank National Sevens Circuit. “We have to keep up with the games development and growth and as an Association, we have organised this camp so as to have our top referees be on the same page when going into the new season,” he said.
Areas that the camp will focus on will be fitness, breakdown management, communication as well law examination and team building.
Also invited for the camp are Kenya Rugby Union officials, Minet Insurance, KRRA’s principal commercial partners and Nandi County government officials.
After the camp, the match officials will head straight to Kakamega for in the inaugural Kakamega Sevens hosted by Western Bulls and Kabras Sugar RFC. This will be the first leg of the 2019 Stanbic Sevens.
