Daniel Taabu went all out for Shujaa in their second Vancouver7s Pool Match against Samoa scoring Kenya’s only two tries in the second half. Samoa scored four tries in the first half as Joe Perez landed a Brace with the other two tries coming from Alamanda Motuga and John Vaili. Tia Melaoi added all four conversions successfully for Samoa to lead 28-0 at half time.
Second half Shujaa scored a try through Taabu who swung past his defenders to score a try next to the posts, he quickly added the conversion and raced back to the center of the pitch for the restart. Shujaa now on attack sent the ball wide to find Taabu who was now on the wing and he raced down to score a corner post try abrely two minutes after his first try. He however missed the conversion and the scores now read 28-12 with two minutes left on the clock.
Cyprian Kuto’s try attempt was unsuccessful as his foot was on the touch line just before he grounded the ball. Samoa got the laugh in the match as Motuga went over for his brace and Samoa’s fifth try and the conversion kick successfully splitting the posts. Samoa securing their second win in Pool B beating Shujaa 35-12.
Earlier, Shujaa lost 36-12 to Fiji. Johnstone Olindi broke through a Fijian tackle and grounded the ball to give Shujaa their first five points of the tournament.
Shujaa’s second try came from Vincent Onyala, who in Onyala fashion, pounced on loose ball and sprinted for the in goal area scoring under the posts. Fiji’s tries were scored by Mocenacagi(2), Naduva(2) while Tuwai and Veilawa scored a try each.
Shujaa will play Canada at 4:40am EAT in their last Pool B match.
