The Kenya Rugby Union joins the rugby fraternity in celebrating the life of former player, match official and administrator John Gichinga who passed away in the early hours of Wednesday 7 October 2020.
A prop forward during his playing days, Gichinga was part of the sixth East African Tuskers squad that defeated hosts Zambia 21-13 during their 1979 tour. He was also capped for Kenya.
He was founder member of Mwamba RFC in 1977 and served as its second Chairman, taking over from Justus Mugaa M’impwii and was also among the pioneering crop of indigenous Kenyans who ventured into rugby officiating.
Gichinga was truly a rugby man.
We treasure his memories and contributions to the game and pray that his family and friends find strength during this trying time.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.
