Jerry Tuwai broke the deadlock after a tentative start, picking up the ball to score from Brian Tanga’s hurried pop pass to Samuel Ng’ethe. The ensuing conversion putting Fiji 7-0 up.
Eroi Sau bamboozled the Kenyan defense, setting up Amenoni Nasilasila for the touch down, Fiji taking a 14-0 lead at the break, just reward for an aggressive approach to the half, particularly at the breakdown.
Fiji withstood pressure from Kenya, Alasio Naduva going over to put them 19-0 midway through the second half.
They then punished Kenya at the breakdown, turning over possession and setting up Josua Vakurunabili for Fiji’s fourth try, Shujaa with no answer at hand. Jeff Oluoch would score at the death from a well worked move, consolation for Shujaa at the death.
Up next is the Hamilton Sevens in New Zealand on 3rd and 4th February.
