Shujaa dropped to the 13th place semifinal with a 5-12 defeat to Canada in their 9th place Los Angeles 7s quarterfinal fixture at the Dignity Health Sports Park on Sunday evening.
Shujaa were unable to overcome resolute Canadian defending and trailed 0-5 at the break through Jack Carson’s unconverted try.
Alvin Otieno would restore parity with a touchdown for Shujaa after the break but they were punished at the death, Josiah Morra scoring with Thomas Isherwood converting to confirm the result.
Next for Shujaa is a clash against hosts USA at 11.02pm EAT.
