The Kenya Lionesses finished up their International Invitation Women’s tournament as runners up after losing 0-10 to the France 7s Development.
The two sides had met on Day one of the tournament with the Lionesses claiming the Pool victory beating the France side 14-7. This was the Lionesses only loss through out the three day tournament having won all their pool matches, proceeded to the cup quarterfinal where they beat Ireland Development 17-5. In the cup semifinal, the ladies landed five tries as Janet Okello, Celestine Masinde, Diana Awino, Stella Wafula and Christabel Tata dotted down a try each. Grace Akulu added two successful conversions.
As the Strength and Conditioning Coach Samuel Njogu had mentioned before the team’s departure, the Lionesses have indeed acquired the ability to not only compete with the International recognized teams but also to do extremely well. They get back to the Country on Sunday at 2:35pm.
