Kenya Lionesses Set Their Sights on Second Leg of the 2025 Challenger Series

Having secured an impressive first-place finish in the opening leg of the 2025 Challenger Series with a maximum 20 points, the  Lionesses are carrying their winning momentum into the second leg with their eyes firmly set on another dominant performance. The ultimate goal for the Lionesses is to finish at the top once again, ensuring their qualification for the crucial third leg set to take place in Krakow, Poland.

A strong showing in Poland will be essential for the team’s ambitions, as a top-four finish in that stage will guarantee them a place in the Playoffs in Los Angeles. With the HSBC Series within reach, the Lionesses are determined to keep their momentum going and turn their dream into reality.

Kenya Lionesses Head Coach, Dennis Mwanja, expressed confidence in the team’s preparation ahead of their second-leg campaign:

The players are in a good state of mind, and we had a productive field session yesterday to refine our skills. Today, we had a training session followed by the captain’s run, which served as a final opportunity to polish our skills in a compressed format. At this stage, the players must take ownership, stepping up without the coach’s voice, and channeling their determination towards winning. Their leadership on the field will be crucial in achieving both the team’s and the coaching staff’s vision.

The team is ready to hit the ground running tomorrow and give their all. This is an exciting time for women’s rugby and the Lionesses as a whole. We appreciate the support from our union and sponsors, and we look forward to a great outing.

The Kenya Lionesses are placed in Pool A alongside Uganda and Belgium, setting the stage for competitive clashes as they aim to extend their dominance in the series. The team’s success thus far is a testament to their dedication, resilience, and unwavering spirit as they chase their ultimate goal of securing a spot in the HSBC Series.
