Coach Jerome Names Travelling Squad for Rugby Africa Cup
Coach Jerome has announced the squad that will be traveling to Uganda for the Rugby Africa Cup, set to take place from 18th to 29th July. The team is determined to give their best performance, particularly in their first match against Senegal on 20th July at 12:00pm EAT, which is expected to be a tough one. Senegal, having beaten Kenya in Nairobi two years ago, is a formidable opponent.
“Despite limited preparation time, the players are motivated and ready to face the challenge. We aim to give our best as the last time the Simbas won the Africa Cup was in 2013,” said Coach Jerome.

Coach Jerome emphasized the importance of the upcoming match and the need for the team to perform at their highest level. The squad is composed of a mix of seasoned players and new talents, all eager to make their mark in the tournament. We have Thomas Okeyo returning to National team action for Simbas after last appearing during the 2023 Currie Cup tournament, experienced Malcolm Onsando is expected to feature for the team whilst in Uganda.
“We had two alignment games, and fortunately, the players have been active in the Kenya Cup and Rugby Super Series. I have confidence in the boys ahead of the tournament,” expressed Coach Jerome.
The tournament will be held at Mandela National Stadium from the 18th to the 29th July, 2024.
