The Kenya Simbas landed in South Africa on Friday 14th April ahead of the 2023 Mzansi Challenge. They will face the San Clemente Rhinos tomorrow at 4:00pm in what will be the Simbas’ first assignment this year.
Speaking at the team naming session, Head Coach Jerome Paarwater started by welcoming the team to South Africa and mentioned that he was indeed looking forward to coaching and interacting with the team for the next few weeks. “I’m very glad to see the boys back here because we have seen the importance of the team playing in the currie cup, these are tough games and it is what we need. We still have a very new squad as we as a new management so I am looking forward to the first game tomorrow.” he said.
The management also selected a very strong squad for tomorrow, some of the players were here last year while others are very new to the team. Jerome added that this is still a building phase for the team so they will mix and match players over the next few weeks in order to see who are the best combinations. “The purpose of playing in this Currie Cup is to seek qualification for the 2027 Rugby World Cup. It’s a four year start for us but I must say the team looks good and ready for tomorrow’s match,” he concluded.
