World Rugby is hosting the Advanced Immediate Care In Rugby Level 3 course and the tenth Medical Commission Conference from the 30th October to the 2nd November in London.
“The conference provides an opportunity for the leading rugby physicians and medical experts to consider the latest medical developments and help drive player welfare best-practice.” wrote Mark Harrington, the World Rugby Head of Technical Services.
The Kenya Rugby Union has nominated Dr. James Ondiege to take part in the four-day course. Dr. Ondiege got his Immediate Care In Rugby Level 2 Accreditation early this year and as it stands, he is the only Doctor with this level of Accreditation in the Country. He has been the Match Day Doctor during this year’s Rugby Africa Gold Cup matches.
The ICIR L3 takes place on the 30th and 31st October while The Medical Commission Conference happens on the 1st and 2nd November.
Locally, the KRU through the Training and Education Coordinator Malik Ndemi, is planning to host three level one courses in Kakamega at a venue that will be communicated at a later date. The courses are Level 1 Coaching 15s, Level 1 First Aid In Rugby and Level 1 Strength and Conditioning on the 3rd and 4th of November.
