Collins Injera struck twice as Shujaa reached their first ever Hong Kong Sevens cup final with a 21-12 semifinal win over New Zealand on Sunday morning. They play defending champions Fiji at 2.00pm EAT.

Amanaki Nicole’s converted try put New Zealand 7-0 up before the Kenyans settled, Sammy Oliech converting  Injera’s brace to see Shujaa take a 14-7 lead into the break moments after Oscar Ouma’s try saving tackle on Rocky Khan.

Injera’s first try was off a Billy Odhiambo offload and the second was vintage Collins Injera. He received the ball just around the center of the pitch, cut back in while leaving his defender stranded, he obliged with the invitation to the try line.

It remained a fair contest after the restart, Shujaa however asserting their dominance at the break down and indeed the knock blow was delivered from here.

With New Zealand putting Shujaa on the ropes, Jeff Oluoch would force a turnover, Willy Ambaka receiving the ball and racing 95m clear to score under the posts. Oliech converting for a 21-7 score before Jona Nareki scored a consolation try for New Zealand at full time.
