Homeboyz ladies cruised into the final of the third leg of the KRU Women’s Festival as they beat the Nakuru ladies 15-5 in a thrilling final.
The DJz took an early 10-0 lead in the first half as Dorcas Mokaya landed a brace, both conversions sailing wide. At the restart of the second half, Dorcas landed her third try extending her side’s lead to 15-0 with four minutes to play. Nakuru having found their momentum , made their way into the opponents 22 and a Homeboyz infringement in their own 5m mark resulted in them being reduced to 9 players. Nakuru maximizing on this scored a try as Veronica Wanjiru went over the whitewash.
Impala ladies finished third in this leg after beating the Northern Suburbs 10-0. Mwamba’s 12-0 win over Shamas Rugby Foundation saw them claim the fifth place title for the second time in the 2019 Women’s Festival while Kisumu’s second win of the festival came from their 31-0 win over Comras in the 7th and 8th ranking final.
Semifinals
Nakuru ladies shut Impala out of what would have been their third consecutive appearance in the final beating them 5-0 in the first cup semifinal while Homeboyz dotted down twice handing the Northern Suburbs a 10-0 loss in the second semifinal.
The ranking semifinal saw Shamas bag their first win of the day as they beat Kisumu RFC 19-0 before Mwamba Ladies ran over Comras handing them a 24-5 loss.
Pool Matches
Impala, Northern Suburbs and Nakuru went unbeaten in their pool matches. In Pool A, Impala beat Kisumu Rugby 17-0 and Shamas Rugby Foundation 29-0 to finish top. Northern Suburbs re-stamped their authority in the pool matches as they saw off their Pool B opponents Mwamba and Comras 26-0 and 38-0 respectively while Nakuru hammered the Bladbabes 53-0 followed by a 19-7 win over Homeboyz in Pool C action.
Bladbabes finished last after the ranking of all teams was done having lost 53-0 to Nakuru and 54-0 to Homeboyz.
