Last Sunday, Little Sports Organisation (LSO) from Mombasa, Paul Harris Secondary School from Kilifi, and Magarini Girls High School from Malindi participated in a girls 10-a-side rugby festival hosted at Khamis High School in Mombasa. The event showcased entertaining rugby matches as part of the Coast Region’s efforts to boost the popularity of women’s rugby.
Mr. Leon Lubang’a, the KRU Coast Region Development Officer, expressed excitement over the inclusion of new teams like Magarini Girls, encouraging them to engage in more tournaments for rapid skill development. Mr. Baraza Wanyama, Chairman of the Coast Rugby Referees Society, pledged support by promising to attend their training sessions for a better understanding of the game’s rules.
The festival, played in a single round-robin format, saw LSO emerge as the overall winner. Teams extended their gratitude to the KRU Development department for providing them with the opportunity to participate.
