Shujaa started the USA Sevens with a 19-14 loss to France in Pool A action at the Sam Boyd Stadium on Saturday morning.
The French went 12-0 up through tries from P. Bonneford and Sacha Valleau, J.P Barraque managing one conversion.
Sammy Oliech seeing that his French defender had turned his shoulder,stepped and accelerated to score and convert for a 12-7 half time score.
Willy Ambaka got a hint of pace, beat his opponents to score a converted try that gave Shujaa a 14-12 lead.
The French scored a sublime try,Sacha Valleau landing his brace,Barraque’s second conversion putting them 19-14 up, the French doing enough to claim the result.
Up next for Shujaa is a clash against Russia at 5.45am.
