Shujaa will take on Germany in the Edmonton Sevens cup quarters after placing second in Pool B at the close of preliminary round action. This match takes place at 7.04pm EAT on Sunday 26 September 2021.
They started their campaign with a 38-5 win over Chile. Willy Ambaka scored two tries with Nelson Oyoo, Mark Kwemoi, Alvin Marube and Timothy Mmasi each landing once. Kwemoi managed two conversions with Daniel Taabu and Levy Amunga stroking home one apiece. Felipe Brangier scored the lone try for Chile.
A 26-12 win over Spain followed next, Billy Odhiambo and Oyoo scoring once each as Kwemoi grabbed a braced with Amunga drilling home three conversions. Alberto Camona and Andres Amau were Spain’s try scorers with Juan Martinez managing a conversion.
Shujaa took on the USA for pool supremacy, eventually going 14-19. Malacchi Esdale, Kevon Williams and Martin Iosefo were the American try scorers – Naima FualaĆ”u and Jerome Nale converting for Mike Friday’s charges as Kenya responded with tries from Nelson Oyoo and Billy Odhiambo. Amunga drilled home both conversions.
