It was Argetina who went 10-0 up over the Lionesses in the first half as Josefina Padellaro and Maria Moreno scored a try each. With a minute to the breather, Janet Okello spotted a gap in the Argentinian defense and sliced through it to score the Lionesses’ first try narrowing the gap to 10-5.

Argentina’s Maria Pedrozo extended her side’s lead as she went over the whitewash but the celebration was short lives as Grace Adhiambo narrowed the gap by opening up Las Pumas defense line and heading for the try line successfully. Janet Owino’s conversions bringing the scores to 12-15. Camilla Atieno used her strength to cross for a vital try and then the whole team put it in defensively. Lionesses securing their slot in the semifinal where they’ll meet Brazil at 8:49am EAT.
On day one, the ladies won all three of their pool matches beating Uganda 24-0, Hong Kong 36-5 and Papua New Guinea 20-10.
