The curtains came down on the inaugural Futures Cup hosted by DBA at Nairobi’s St. Christopher’s International School this past weekend.

The tournament, which attracted eight U15 sides, was played from 14th to 16th July with Rift Valley Lakers emerging victorious, defeating Kampala Giants 10-5 in a thrilling final on Sunday.

Western Hurricanes claimed third place with a 12-3 result over Nairobi Lightning as another side from Western Kenya, Western Wanderers settling for fifth place with a 19-5 win over the Nairobi Bulldozers.

Coastal Tsunami and Central Avalanche settled for seventh and eighth positions respectively.

The motivating factor behind the Futures Cup was to compliment existing player pathways for emerging talent by giving them the chance to play more fixtures beyond the school games schedule.
