Kenya’s beloved rugby warriors, Shujaa, have secured a formidable ally as Crown Paints steps onto the pitch as their newest sponsor. In a spectacular demonstration of corporate goodwill and a passion for sports, Crown Paints has inked a sponsorship deal with the Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) to support the team in three crucial legs of the 2024/2025 Sevens Series.
With unwavering enthusiasm, Crown Paints has committed to backing Shujaa in the following high-stakes tournaments:
- Hong Kong Sevens – 28th to 30th March 2025
- Singapore Sevens – 5th to 6th April 2025
- Los Angeles Sevens – 3rd to 4th May 2025
This strategic partnership, valued at an impressive KShs 2,625,000, encompasses both financial backing and corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, ensuring that the impact transcends beyond the rugby field. The deal comprises a cash injection of KShs 1,625,000 and an in-kind contribution of KShs 1,000,000 in paint products for pitch marking, facility enhancements, and a transformative school painting program.
Beyond fueling Shujaa’s pursuit of excellence on the global stage, Crown Paints’ sponsorship underscores a commitment to uplifting communities. By integrating CSR into this partnership, the initiative will brighten not only rugby pitches but also learning institutions, fostering an environment where sports and education thrive side by side.
Speaking at the launch event at the RFUEA Grounds, Paul Odera, Director of Rugby, emphasized that sponsorships are not solely about financial contributions. “There are a lot of aspects about the game, including the psychological and nutritional parts. The rugby ecosystem has many facets, and we are grateful that such sponsorships support these elements. This partnership will significantly contribute to creating a positive environment for our players,” he stated.
KRU Chairman Sasha Mutai echoed similar sentiments, highlighting the long-standing relationship between Crown Paints and rugby in Kenya. “This is not the first time Crown Paints is coming into the rugby landscape. It’s a partnership that has come a long way, and we are really grateful. This is the first step to many more, and we hope to expand further,” he noted.
On behalf of Crown Paints, Richard Muturi, Group Chief Operations Officer, expressed excitement about the collaboration. “We are grateful to be part of the rugby landscape, especially at a time when the sport has been growing significantly. A lot of resources go into its development, and we are pleased that through this sponsorship, we will also be reaching out to the community,” he said.
This collaboration signals a powerful synergy between sports and industry, with Crown Paints reinforcing its reputation as a champion of local talent and community development. As Shujaa gears up for these pivotal battles on the international stage, they do so with a splash of confidence—fortified by the colors of Crown Paints
