The Kenya Under 20 rugby team,  Chipu, faced a challenging match in their second game of the World Rugby Under 20 Trophy against the Netherlands. The tournament, being held in Scotland, has brought together some of the best young rugby talents from around the world. Despite their determined efforts, Chipu faced a formidable Dutch side and experienced a heavy defeat.The Kenyan squad, under the guidance of head coach Simon Jawichre, had high hopes of showcasing their growth and resilience in this prestigious tournament.

The game began with both teams testing each other’s defenses.  The Dutch team quickly took control of the match, leveraging their superior tactical plays and physical strength. Chipu struggled to find their footing against the relentless Dutch attacks, which saw the Netherlands race ahead with several tries in the first half.

Despite their best efforts, the Kenyan team could only manage a penalty kick, scoring three points. The first half ended with the Netherlands in a commanding lead, leaving Chipu with a significant deficit to overcome.In the second half, Chipu showed remarkable resilience and determination. Despite the overwhelming odds, Chipu continued to battle hard, displaying commendable effort . The Netherlands, however, maintained their momentum, adding more tries to their tally and further extending their lead.The final whistle blew with the scoreboard reading 51-03 in favor of the Netherlands. While the loss was a tough pill to swallow, it provided valuable lessons and experience for the young Kenyan team.

The team is set to face the USA on Friday, July 12, 2024, at 4:30 PM East African Time. This upcoming match offers another opportunity for Chipu to showcase their skills and resilience. The players and coaching staff are focused on preparing for this crucial encounter, aiming to put up a strong performance and bounce back from their recent defeat.
