After a tough 32-22 loss to Namibia on Wednesday, defending champions Chipu are determined to end their 2025 Rugby Africa U20 Barthes Trophy campaign on a high when they face hosts Zimbabwe.
The loss to Namibia was a disappointing result, but head coach Simon Jawichre says there were still positives to take from the match.”We had many positives but unfortunately the negatives were on the higher side. We have worked on bridging the gaps.”
Chipu will field almost the same squad that played against Namibia. The only changes see Branton Lusisa starting the match, while Brian Achacha moves to the bench. Eugene Ojiambo also joins the squad, taking Terrence Ogutu’s place among the replacements.
Looking ahead to the Zimbabwe clash, Jawichre believes the team is ready.”We believe and have sharpened our attitude to put us in the right foot forward,” he said.Chipu will be aiming to bounce back and end their tournament with a win, even as they face the challenge of playing against the hosts and their home fans. The squad will be as follows:
