Beril Akinyi will be officiating at the Regional Sevens tournament in Lesotho this weekend. The tournament runs from 31st August to 1st September.
Beril, who recently expressed her satisfaction with the continued exposure given to Women Match Officials in Africa, while insisting that there is room for more to be done, is delighted with the appointment.
“As I had mentioned earlier, Kenya Women Match Officials need more International exposure so as to keep up with the rest of the World and attract more women to officiating. Precious Pazani (Zimbabwe) and Saudah Adiru (Uganda) are a true testament to this. I’m taking this assignment very seriously as the ripple effect it has on Kenya Women Match Official is huge.’’ concluded Beril.
She has been officiating in Division one of the ongoing Stanbic Bank National Sevens Circuit and was recently the AR (Assistant referee) for Zimbabwean Precious Pazani during Kenya Lioness and Uganda Lady Crane Elgon cup encounter in June at Kisumu Mamboleo show ground.
Beril has some international experience having officiated at the Dairibord Fest in Zimbabwe in 2017, FISU World University Rugby 7s in Namibia and Regional 7s in Burundi in 2018.
She is a member of the Rift Valley Referee Society and a World Rugby Certified Match Official Educator.
