Chipu secured their first victory in the U20 Trophy, since they last competed in the tournament as hosts in 2009, when a last minute penalty kick by Vice Captain Dominic Coulson split the posts for a 26-24 win.
Brazil’s dominant scrum saw them take an early 10-0 lead over Chipu thanks to their forwards. First try came from their flanker Rafael dos Santos who crossed the line moments before hooker Leonardo de Souza spotted the gap in Chipu blind side to score at the corner.
Brian Amaitsa broke through the Brazilian defense to land Chipu’s first try with Coulson converting and later adding two penalties for a 13-10 half-time lead.
The World was served a display of pure Kenyan class as scrum-half Samuel Asati combined with Geofrey Okwach who split open the defense and raced under the posts, Coulson converting.

Five minutes later, Chipu had a 13-point lead after Coulson added a penalty.
Brazil then added two quick tries with both conversions splitting the posts handing them a one point lead.
Chipu’s composure and pressure as they defended in the last ten minutes denied the hosts any chance of adding any extra points. Eventually, Chipu got possession and were now attacking in the last three minutes of the match. They slowly and skillfully made their way into Brazil’s half, a penalty awarded to Chipu a little under 40M away from the try line saw Coulson slot in the winning penalty for a 26-24 Chipu win.
