Top fry Nakuru won the fourth leg of the K.R.U 10 a side Women Rugby Festival to go top of the chat together with the Standard Chartered Impala Ladies. Wanyore as they are popularly know beat the hosts and defending champions Impala ladies 5-0 in an entertaining final that saw them camp in Impala’s half in both halves of the game.
The defensive Impala made Nakuru work hard for their sole try scored by Freshia Awino who was arguably the player of the final. Menengai Cream Homeboyz beat Mwamba RFC 19-5 to take the third and fourth slots respectively, as Northern Suburbs, Shamas, Kisumu Dolphins and COMRAS followed in that sequence.
Wanyore’s flag is flying high at the moment as they remain in contention to make history and become the first Women rugby side outside Nairobi to lift the championship. ” We still have a lot to do as the competition is tight and the points difference is a tie between us and the defending champions Standard Chartered Impala so we can’t celebrate fully yet but we are going back to the drawing board,” said Felix Oloo,Nakuru Head Coach.
