Shujaa  were the toast of the town this morning as they were hosted to a sumptuous breakfast courtesy of their long-standing sponsors, SportPesa. The celebratory gathering came hot on the heels of Shujaa’s stellar  performance at the Singapore Sevens, where the squad stormed their way to the final, falling  to Fiji in the final after having an unbeaten run through the entire leg.

While the breakfast was a delightful gesture, it merely set the stage for the true purpose of the day—an official bonus presentation to honor the team’s incredible run in Singapore. As promised, SportPesa CEO Ronald Karauri led the momentous occasion, commending the players and technical bench for their unwavering tenacity  on the global stage.

Kenya Rugby Union  officials, led by Chairman Sasha Mutai, were in attendance and did not hide their joy. They lauded SportPesa for their continued partnership, which has been instrumental in fuelling the team’s growth and enabling the players to focus on the game without distractions.Speaking on behalf of the players, co-captains  Asati and  Ooro expressed heartfelt gratitude to both the sponsors and the union. They reaffirmed the team’s commitment to excellence, promising to leave it all on the field as they head to Los Angeles for the high-stakes relegation battle. With a slot in the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series on the line, Shujaa are more motivated than ever.

SportPesa CEO Karauri, clearly proud of the team’s showing, reiterated the brand’s unwavering support. He hailed the players for flying the Kenyan flag high and assured them that more rewards await if they continue delivering on the pitch. As a token of appreciation for their exceptional performance, SportPesa handed Shujaa a generous bonus of Ksh 1.35 million. This translates to Ksh 75,000 for each player and member of the technical bench.
