On Sunday 8th September, the National U18 trials will take place at the RFUEA Grounds from 8:00am with the U18 Manager Joseph Guchu overseeing all the operations on the day. Over the last four months, there have been Under 18 trials throughout the country and the selected players per region will all showcase their talent on Sunday.
“The regional U18 festival to be played on the 8th of September at the RFUEA grounds is an exciting chapter for schoolboy rugby in Kenya. This is the start of creating Kenya’s Craven Week, where we will get the best talent at U18 across all regions in Kenya play in competitive matches, and then choose a national team. 240 players from 7 regions will fight for 60 places to be part of the Kenya U18 squad in 2024. This is an exciting time for Kenya rugby as we look to secure the future of Chipu, Shujaa, and the Kenya Simbas.” said Odera.
The seven regions participating are: Eastern, Rift Valley, Nyanza, Central, Western, Nairobi, Coast and Barbarians. The Barbarians comprises of star players from all regions who narrowly missed the cut in their regions.
The regions have been separated into two pools, Pool A has Western, Eastern, Nairobi and Barbarians while Rift Valley, Nyanza, Central and Coast make up Pool B.
