Following consultations between the Rugby Super Series Organizing Committee, Kenya Lionesses Management, and the Kenya Rugby Union, it has been decided to cancel the Women’s Match between the Eagles and the Jaguars, originally scheduled for 12:00 PM on Saturday, 25 May 2024.
The key factors that have contributed to this decision:
1. Player Welfare & Safety: World Rugby’s 10-day return-to-play protocol, which ensures player safety, will expire on Thursday, 23 May. This leaves just one training day before the scheduled match.
2. Player Availability: Some players participated in the HSBC 7s Challenger Series in Poland on 18-19 May and are unavailable due to the same player welfare and safety protocols. As a result, it is not possible to field two elite sides capable of playing a competitive match that aligns with the aims of the RSS 2024.
