Shujaa have made a winning start in pool play at the final round of the HSBC Sevens Challenger 2024, defeating Japan 28-12 in their Pool C opener in Munich on Saturday 18 May 2024.
Japan took an early lead through Shotaro Tsouka before Tony Omondi converted Kevin Wekesa’s try to give Shujaa the 7-5 advantage.
The Japanese struck again, Moeki Fukushi touching down with Ryota Kano converting to give them the 7-5 lead at the interval.
A try from John Okoth with an Omondi conversion took Shujaa 14-12 up.
Patrick Odongo would then intercept the ball after Japan lost it forward, racing clear to score with Omondi converting for 21-12 before again converting Chrisant Ojwang’s try to seal the win for Shujaa.
