Head Coach Curtis Olago has named the 28 man Chipu squad that will play out of Pool B against Hong Kong China, Samoa and Spain when the World Rugby U20 Trophy is held in Nairobi from 15th to 30th July at the Nyayo National Stadium.
Speaking during the squad announcement at The Stadion Hotel, Olago called out to Kenyan fans to turn up in large numbers, saying, ““I urge all the home fans to come out in numbers to support the boys because this is a critical stage of their careers. They are soon transitioning to the Simbas, so come and support them and push them forward.”
He added, ““We are here to play…we are here to compete against some of the world’s best sides when it comes to this category of competition. It is an honour for us to compete in this tournament and we are going to give our best. We are aware of the competition that we are about to face but we have prepared well to play a big game.”
Chipu are in Pool B with Hong Kong China, Samoa and Spain for the tournament returns to Kenya for the first time since 2009.
