The Simbas are hosting the Border Bulldogs this Saturday, 6th May in their third Mzansi Challenge match against fixture at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology. This match will kick off at 3:30pm EAT.
As part of their preparations, the team will have a training match against the Junior Boks on Thursday 4th May at the Stellenbosch Academy of Sport. Head Coach Jerome will use this match to test the side he wants to field on Saturday when they take on the Bulldogs. “There’s a lot of guys in our team who haven’t played yet and we want all of them to get some game time,” he said.
“This week focus has been on the kicking game so the players can understand which part of the field we are when we have to exit from lineouts and scrums so we can play in the right areas of the field. Our set pieces were good last week and the guys understand our contesting policy that’s why we managed to steal a few balls from EP’s possession. Border is a different team and has changed a lot from last year, they have a good structure and big forwards that’s why it’s important for us to have a kicking game,” added Jerome.
He added that he is also working on getting the team to score tries when they are in the oppositions 22M part of the field.
The match day 23 against Border Bulldogs will be released on Friday 5th May 2023
