Jone Kubu has been ruled out of the final qualification event for the Rugby World Cup after sustaining an injury in training on Saturday 22 October 2022.
This was confirmed by Simbas Team Manager Jimmy Mnene who said, “Jone Kubu suffered an injury to his left wrist, unfortunately our mercurial fly half will be out of Repechage Campaign. It’s obviously tough for him, however, management of the injury has commenced and we shall monitor his progress. As a technical team lead by Paul Odera, we shall walk the full recovery journey with him.”
“I am not 100 per cent sure in terms of what date he will return to training and return to play would be but I know he is out of the Simbas Repechage campaign. I wish him all the best in his recovery.”
The Simbas are set to compete against the USA, Portugal and Hong Kong for the final slot to the 2023 Rugby World Cup taking place in France. The final qualification event takes place from 6-18 November in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
