The Kenya U20 National Team (Chipu) has received a major boost of Ksh 1 million sponsorship from Teita Sisal Estate through its lodge, the Hildana Lodge ahead of the Barthes Cup semi final match v Namibia set for Wednesday, 13 April 2022.
The Hildana Lodge (www.thehildanalodge.com) lies at the foot of the Taita Hills.
The sanctuary forms a part of Teita Sisal Estate and speaks to the family’s passion and commitment to the conservation of the wildlife and the surrounding environment.
Speaking at the partnership presentation, Jimmy Mnene, Teita Sisal representative who is also the Simbas Team Manager expressed the company’s delight in supporting Chipu.

Ours is not just an investment, it is a commitment to the society through transforming and developing the sport of rugby in Kenya. The company has been a strong supporter of both Kenya Simbas (senior XVs men) and Chipu since 2019. Further, the company will also put in KES 1M to support the Kenya Simbas Currie cup campaign in South Africa.’
Speaking at the presentation, Kenya Rugby Union Chairman Oduor Gangla said, “Its a very exciting to see corporate Kenya return to rugby.These funds will be used to ensure the team prepares and performs well. We have been working with Teita Estates for a while and I want to appreciate Philip Kyriazi and his team for the work they do behind the scenes.”
“We cannot progress if corporates don’t take advantage of the tax incentives by government to sponsor sports.We are very much appreciative of the support,” he concluded.
