It was a tale of two halves when the Simbas took on Namibia on Sunday afternoon at the Stellenbosch Academy of Sport. The Simbas lead 24-19 at the breather but it was Namibia who walked away with the 60-24 victory at full time.
It was Namibia who took the lead as they went over the try line for an unconverted corner post try in the first ten minutes of the match. Four minutes later, Simba’s ball handling skills when attacking saw the backline send the ball wide to find Jacob Ojee who dotted down Kenya’s first try; Kubu’s conversion giving the Paul Odera charges a two-point lead.
Olympian, Vincent Onyala sliced through the Namibian defense twice landing two converted tries in quick succession. His tries were sandwiched by Namibia’s two tries, with one conversion sailing wide while the other was successful; scores reading 19-21 in favor of Kenya.

A penalty against Namibia in their half saw Kenya’s mercurial fly half Jone Kubu sliced the uprights with a penalty conversion bringing the halftime scores to 19-24.
Second half Namibia landed seven tries, three being converted successfully while the other four were unconverted while the Kenya Simbas, despite their attacking efforts, were unable to register any points in this half. Namibia securing the victory that sees them take on Zimbabwe next Saturday in the Stellenbosch Challenge final while Kenya faces Brazil in the bronze match.
