Shujaa closed out the 2021 HSBC Sevens World Series in third place after a third place finish at the season ending Edmonton Sevens at the Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton, Canada.

They faced Germany in the cup quarterfinal, emerging 24-17 winners. Jeff Oluoch and Alvin Otieno each landed a brace with Levi Amunga slotting home two conversions.
A cup semifinal clash against South Africa followed. It ended 33-7 to the Blitzboks in a match that saw Jeff Oluoch land Shujaa’s sole try, Amunga sure with the twos.

Up next was a clash against hosts Canada, third place at stake. A six try display saw Innocent Simiyu’s charges claim the bronze medal courtesy of a 33-14 result. Otieno and Billy Odhiambo grabbed braces with Willy Ambaka and Nelson Oyoo also crossing over the whitewash. Amunga contributed three conversions with Odhiambo scoring a rare conversion.
The team finished third overall with 34 points, level with second placed Great Britain and six behind overall winners South Africa.
