Kenya’s Lionesses 15s will get their first taste of international action since 2019 when they face Madagascar in the Rugby Africa Women’s Cup over two weekends at Nairobi’s Nyayo National Stadium.
With local and international sport disrupted in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Lionesses, like many other national teams underwent a period of inactivity as their fixtures for the 2020 season inclusive of the Rugby Africa Women’s Cup and the RWC 2021 qualifier against Colombia were rescheduled.
Incidentally, Kenya and Madagascar last faced off at the 2019 Rugby Africa Women’s Cup on 9 August, the Lionesses winning that fixture 35-5.
The Kenyan squad is expected to be unveiled on Thursday by the technical team while Madagascar are scheduled to arrive in Nairobi on Wednesday evening.
The first clash takes place at 11.00am on Saturday 3 July with the second one set for Sunday 11 July at the same venue.
