The Kenya Rugby Women’s Sevens Team- Kenya Lionesses, have settled in Kasarani for an eight-day camp. The camps have been funded by the National Olympics Committee-Kenya(NOCK) to assist all Tokyo 2020 qualified teams to prepare for the event scheduled for July 2021.
The ladies have two pre-Olympics events left so far, there’s the sevens solidarity fund taking place next month followed by the combined Los Angeles 7s in June. The camp in Tunis will be at the Maison du Rugby where three women’s teams will converge on 29th April: Kenya, Madagascar and hosts Tunisia. This camp is meant to aid the African Unions that have qualified for either the Olympics or the Olympics Repechage with preparations of their Women’s 7s teams.
From the Kasarani Camp, the Lionesses will head straight to Tunisia for the Training Camp that kicks off with the first two-day tournament on 1st and 2nd May while the second tournament will take place on 7th and 8th May. All participating teams will be in a bubble during their whole stay due to the global pandemic.
