The 2024 Dala Sevens tournament kicked off in style at the Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium and Kisumu Polytechnic for Division one and two respectively.

At the Stadium, Menengai Oilers kicked off the day with a resounding 31-00 over Mwamba a win that was followed by 27-12 win over Strathmore and a 21-12 victory over Quins to lock their spot in the Cup quarterfinals. The second Pool A team that is also through to the quarterfinals is Kenya Harlequin who got two wins and suffered one loss. They beat Strathmore 17-12 and Mwamba 17-7 before losing to Oilers.

In Pool B, KCB and Nondies are through to the cup quarterfinals, the Bankers beat the Kenyatta University Blakblad 24-0, Homeboyz 36-5 and Nondies 19-7 to seal the top spot followed by Nondies. On their end, Nondies beat Homeboyz and KU Blakblad and lost to KCB. Blakblad and Homeboyz settled for third and fourth place positions in their Pool, KU’s Blakblad’s sole victory on day one was a 34-7 over Homeboyz.

Kabras topped Pool C with three out of three wins, they beat Stallions 19-0, Kisumu  19-05 and survived a scare from MMUST beating 17-12. MMUST came in second having secured two victories and one loss. In Pool D, Catholic Monks continued with their great performance to secure the Cup quarterfinal slot making this their third consecutive Cup quarterfinal qualification. They’re joined by Kabras Sugar RFC who finished top of their Pool while Monks came in second.
